Last year, on our birthday, we received a gift that we weren’t all that sure was a keeper – an 8-DVD boxed-set Collectors Edition of Long Way Round, Race To Dakar & Long Way Down – 24 plus hours of what we thought was a motorcycle travelogue.
Um, yawn. But one day the Netflicks didn’t arrive and we decided to have a look. Six hours later we got off the couch for a dinner break and went back for two hours more.
Two days later, we finished them, and have watched them all three times since. This enormous documentary/buddy film/travelogue/adventure series follows best buddies Ewan McGregor and Charley Booman as they ride motorcycles literally around the world, from London to Russia and the U.S., and from Scotland to Capetown.
Unscripted, spontaneous and often hilarious, each episode is a thrill ride through some of the worlds’ most far-flung locales, as well as a tale of true friendship in the face of danger, adventure and multiple mishaps (including a few near-death experiences).
Even if you aren’t a motorcyclist, you’re sure to have a great time touring the world with these dudes on three trips of a lifetime. All we can say is get yourself a copy and enjoy: http://www.amazon.com/Long-Round-Deluxe-Down-Dakar/dp/B001J2SFSC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1246894715&sr=8-1
